Cease fire? Another cargo ship has been attacked! Facing sinking! The crew is missing! Difficult to resolve crisis, difficult to reduce freight rates

On June 10th local time, the United Nations Security Council passed a resolution calling for an "immediate, comprehensive, and complete" ceasefire in the Gaza Strip to end the 8-month Israeli Palestinian conflict as soon as possible.

As soon as this news came out, the consolidation index futures on June 11th opened high and fell low, causing a significant drop during the day. The main contract (EC2408) fell more than 9% during the day, and the far month contracts EC2410, 2412, 2502, and 2504 also hit the limit down at one point. Meanwhile, the stock prices of shipping companies such as HPL, MSK, EMC,YML, and WHL have also declined.

According the news, a spokesperson for German shipping company HPL said on June 11th that even if Hamas and Israel now reach a ceasefire agreement, it will be difficult for the shipping industry to resume navigation through the Suez Canal in the short term.

The spokesperson said, "Even if there is a ceasefire now, it does not mean that the attacks by the Housai armed forces will stop immediately."“

HPL added that even if the Suez Canal reopens for navigation, it will take at least four to six weeks to rearrange the schedule and restore normal operations.

The Red Sea crisis is having an unprecedented impact on the shipping industry. Due to the attack on commercial ships by the Yemeni Husai armed forces, shipping companies have avoided the Suez Canal and opted for longer routes, resulting in a significant increase in travel and operating costs.

MSK declined to comment on this. The CEO of the company stated in February that the company needs a personalized solution before considering returning to the Red Sea. At present, the risk in the Red Sea region has not been reduced.

According to a  news client, an official from the Yemeni government Coast Guard stated on the 12th local time that a cargo ship was attacked by Husai militants near the main port city of Hodeida in the Red Sea of Yemen on the same day, causing the ship to flood and one crew member to go missing.

The official, who declined to be named, said that the attacked freighter, named "Mentor," was operated by a Greek shipping company. The freighter was hit by a small ship loaded with explosives about 677 nautical miles from Hodeida. The small ship exploded at the stern of the freighter, causing the hull to rupture and flood. Currently, the freighter has lost power and is drifting at sea. The freighter reported that one crew member went missing after the explosion, with 21 crew members from different backgrounds on board.

The UK Maritime Trade Action Office confirmed on the 12th that a cargo ship was attacked in the waters near Hodeida. The office said that a white small boat about 5 to 7 meters long collided with the stern of a cargo ship. The cargo ship is flooded and has become uncontrollable. The cargo ship was hit by an unidentified flying object after being attacked by a small boat.

On the evening of the 12th local time, Yehya Sareya, spokesperson for the Yemeni Hussai armed forces, said in a speech that the Hussai armed forces attacked the cargo ship "TUTOR" in the Red Sea using unmanned speedboats, drones, and ballistic missiles, causing serious damage to the ship and facing the risk of sinking. Sareya stated that the Hussai armed forces also cooperated with the Iraqi Islamic Resistance Movement to launch attacks on Haifa and Ashdod in Israel.

In addition, Sareya also stated that the Hussai armed forces will continue to carry out related attacks and support the Palestinian people until the aggression against Palestine stops and the blockade against the Palestinian people is lifted. Otherwise, the Hussai armed forces will not stop related military operations.
