Be careful! The country's ports are on strike! Operation facing interruption and delay warning!

It is understood that Italian union port workers will hold a strike in July, and port operations may be disrupted.

Dexun posted a reminder on its official website that Italian transport workers will go on strike in the week of July.

Despite six months of contract negotiations, the Italian transport unions and employers have yet to reach an agreement. There are still differences between the two sides on the negotiation terms.

Therefore, the unions Uiltresporti and Fit Cisl, Fit Cgil and Fit Cisi have called for a strike at the port next week. The strike is expected to affect all ports in the country.

According to media reports, members of the Ultrasporti union representing Italian transportation workers will hold a strike on July 2nd and 3rd.

"After more than six months of negotiations, we are still unable to provide specific answers to the basic needs of Italian dock workers," Uiltrasporti said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the Italian Federation of Transport Workers, FiRtCgil and Fit Cill, have called for a 48 hour strike across the entire port sector on July 4th and 5th. The union is demanding a new collective labor agreement, which includes increasing the economy to restore the purchasing power lost by workers. Before the strike date, the employer's association proposed improvement suggestions to resume negotiations.

Filt Cgil and Fit Cisl stated, "On July 4th and 5th, all workers in the entire port department went on strike for 48 hours." They explained, "Despite the chaotic state starting on March 11th and the strike taking place from April 3rd to 5th, negotiations to renew the port collective agreement expired on December 31st, 2023, but have not yet reached a level that meets the expectations of workers.".

"It is necessary to renew the collective bargaining agreement at the port as soon as possible, which stipulates that economic growth can help restore workers' lost purchasing power, further improve working conditions, raise safety standards, and implement existing welfare systems. Therefore, we hope that employers in departments such as Ancip, Assistant, Assologistica, Assoporti, and Fise Uniport can restart negotiations to resolve the negotiation deadlock."

We would like to remind all shippers and freight forwarders that due to the strike, it will affect port operations. It is necessary to pay real-time attention to the latest developments at the port, understand the information of cargo nodes, and adjust transportation plans in a timely manner.
