On August 9, 2024, the "YM Mobility" vessel under Yangming Shipping experienced an explosion while docked at the Beilun Port Container Terminal in Ningbo Zhoushan Port. After the accident, Yangming Shipping issued a series of announcements explaining the situation of the accident.
On August 20th, Yangming Shipping once again announced that on August 9th, 2024, when MVYM Mobility was near the third phase terminal of Ningbo Port, a container in its bow area exploded. The local port authority carried out firefighting operations, and according to reports, the fire has been extinguished and inspections are currently underway.
To ensure the safety and interests of the vessel, cargo, and crew, Yangming Shipping Co., Ltd. officially declares general average and designates Richards HoggLindley to collect the guarantees that the parties involved in the cargo should provide.
Yangming Shipping reminds: "In order to facilitate the smooth release of goods and avoid unnecessary delays, please contact the adjuster and provide necessary guarantees and corresponding documents. Please consider this notice as an emergency to avoid unnecessary delays: the goods will not be able to be picked up until the guarantee is submitted“
General average refers to the special sacrifices and expenses directly caused by intentional and reasonable measures taken for the common safety of a ship, cargo, and other property when they encounter a common danger during the same sea voyage. Simply put, general average means that once a ship encounters an accident, everyone needs to bear the corresponding losses together and provide a general average guarantee before they can receive the goods.
