 1. Nepal transfers imported goods through Chinese ports

Recently, 15 tons of turmeric powder imported from Vietnam by Nepal arrived in the capital city of Nepal, Kathmandu, through Tianjin Port and Zhangmu Tatopani Port.

The Secretary of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Supply of Nepal, Madu Kumar Marasini, delivered a speech at the welcoming ceremony for the arrival of the first batch of goods on the same day, stating that the completion of the transportation of the first batch of goods under the Nepal China Transit Transport Agreement signifies that the two countries have embarked on a "journey of change" to strengthen economic cooperation, increase trade volume, and achieve common prosperity.

Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Chen Song, stated in his speech that the successful implementation of the China Nepal Transit Transport Agreement means that Nepal's international trade will gradually diversify.

      2. Global Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index rebounded slightly from its low point in August

The China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing recently released the Global Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index for August.

The changes in the index indicate that the global manufacturing purchasing managers' index rebounded in August compared to the previous month, but it is still at a lower level, and the global economy is showing a weak recovery trend.

The global manufacturing purchasing managers' index in August was 48.3%, an increase of 0.4 percentage points compared to the previous month. Although it has been rising for two consecutive months, the index is still at a relatively low level of around 48%. The global economy is showing a weak recovery trend, and the overall tightening environment has not changed. The pressure of demand contraction still exists.

      3. Expected global dry bulk cargo volume growth of 1.5% -2.5%

The International Shipping Association believes that due to the overall weakness of the global economy, container traffic is expected to decline by 0.5% or increase by 0.5% in 2023 and increase by 3% to 4% in 2024.

Due to increased demand from China and other regions of the world, as well as increased oil production in the Americas, it is expected that the tanker market will have a good development momentum in the coming years.

In addition, it is expected that the global dry bulk cargo volume will increase by 1.5% to 2.5% in 2023 and 1% to 2% in 2024, respectively, which are 0.5 percentage points and 1 percentage point lower than the basic situation.

      4. DHL opens cargo flight routes to Argentina

DHL Express has expanded its air cargo network by launching dedicated cargo planes to Argentina. The global express delivery giant has announced that DHL Aero Expresco, headquartered in Panama, will operate Boeing 767-300 flights between Miami and Buenos Aires, with six stopovers in Santiago, Chile.

It is understood that DHL Aero Expresco provides branded parcel and courier services in Latin America and the Caribbean, and currently operates three Boeing 757-200 large narrow body cargo planes and three 767-300 aircraft.

DHL stated that Argentine flights will increase customs clearance for US originating goods by 10% on the day the flight arrives in Argentina, and deliver 50% more goods on the day of customs clearance. The service of goods exported from Argentina has also improved, and now all goods can be flown out no later than the day after pick-up.

5 . Amazon teamed up with Maersk to fully promote green transportation

According to foreign media reports, Amazon recently reached a cooperation agreement with global shipping giant Maersk.

Maersk will provide Amazon with an eco-friendly transportation solution (ECO Delivery), and both sides will jointly explore emission reduction in the shipping industry, achieving low-carbon environmental protection, energy conservation, and consumption reduction. Through this collaboration, Amazon will transport 20000 FFE (40 foot) containers using green biofuels through Maersk's Eco Delivery from 2023 to 2024.

Maersk estimates that compared to standard marine fuel oil, using green biofuels will reduce carbon dioxide equivalent by 44600 metric tons, equivalent to burning approximately 50 million pounds of coal.
