The month of Ramadan in 2024 has begun, starting from March 12, 2024 (Tuesday) and lasting for about 29 days. The last fasting day is April 9 (Tuesday)

The opening time of different Ramadan months depends on the time when the new moon appears or should appear. The time when each crescent appears is different, and the time to enter Ramadan may also vary. Uploading

During Ramadan, foreign traders need to arrange transportation of goods in advance. It is better for goods to arrive at the destination port before and after the end of Ramadan, so as to catch up with the consumption period of Eid al Fitr. Generally, the day of the end of Ramadan is Eid al Fitr, which is also a period for Muslims to engage in a wave of consumption.

For freight forwarders, it is important to remember to book the shipment in advance, confirm the details of the bill of lading with the customer in advance, and confirm the details and requirements of the customs clearance documents with the customer in advance during Ramadan.

In addition, remember to apply for a 14-21 day container free period from the shipping company when shipping, and if some routes allow, apply for a container free period as well.

Goods that are not in a hurry can be shipped at the end of Ramadan, as the working hours of government agencies, customs, ports, freight forwarders, and other relevant employees during the Ramadan period are shortened. Approval and decision-making of certain documents may be delayed until after Ramadan, which makes it difficult to control the overall delivery time. Therefore, if conditions permit, try to avoid this time period as much as possible.

In addition, the working hours during Ramadan have been reduced to half a day, coupled with the inability to eat and drink during the day, which reduces the physical strength of dock workers and slows down the speed of handling goods. Therefore, the capacity of destination and transit ports to handle goods has been significantly weakened.

So during this period, the operation time at the dock will be much longer, and the situation of goods not being able to board the second leg will gradually increase. To reduce losses, it is recommended to track the dynamics of goods anytime and anywhere to avoid unnecessary losses caused by cargo dumping or delays at transit ports.

It is worth noting that local banks only rest during the Eid al Fitr period, and other times are not affected by the holiday to operate normally. Foreign traders need to be wary of customers using this as an excuse to delay payments.

Here, we remind shippers and freight forwarders to handle shipping related matters in advance during Ramadan to avoid unnecessary trouble caused by holiday attributes
